PDM startup and description:

PDM is currently in planning phase for a rewrite. The available PDM-download from sourceforge.net is a version, which was more focused on business. It was able to be run over network, had an own server and other business like features like Hibernate support for easy database switching. Sadly, I never managed to convince Hibernate to work properly and fast enough for my purposes. Additionally, PDM was mainly intended to solve my own "documents chaos problem". Therefore, the old version is not longer under development and the new PDM is to be a "single user, single computer" program, which focuses on the "normal" office user.

Because of all this, I also seek programmers, documentation writers or simply anyone who is willing to help ;-)

So if you are interested, contact me.  here

First of all, PDM should have at least the following features:

Free choice of indexes based on text, boolean or list fields

An index should be markable as mandatory when storing a new document

Document aquisition should be possible either from file or image source i.e. scanner devices

TWAIN as well as SANE support

Document history

The archive directory should be encrypted

Printing of documents as well as emailing should be possible directly out of application by passing the document / pages to the systems default email application/printer

And in German:

Freie Indexe ( Text, Bool, Liste )

Indexe als Pflichtfelder definierbar

Erfassung von Scanner, File

Dokumentenhistorie

Archiv verschlüsselt

drucken, email aus Programm

This is only a first list of things that are absolutely necessary. More stuff will be added, as soon as new suggestions are made.
